Waterfront Land Use Planning, December 11-13, 2023

In December, we convened several events with a focus on the waterfront, our connection to the water, and what should be prioritized in future waterfront development.

2 community open houses

1 waterfront tour with neighborhood leaders and key stakeholders

Nearly 200 participants

This 20-minute video was created for the open houses, to orient participants to the purpose of the event as they arrived.

Waterfront Tour

We rented a bus and together with consultants, staff, neighborhood leaders and other key stakeholders, visited a variety sites along the Peninsula waterfront. Thanks to Charleston Harbor Tours and Safe Harbor Marina, we got a chance to do a portion of the tour by boat and see the Peninsula from the water!

At each stop, neighborhood leaders shared their stories and experiences with the waterfront and surrounding development; and City staff provided information related to flooding mitigation strategies and infrastructure projects underway. It was a long day but a valuable learning experience for all involved.

Can you guess where we visited from the pictures?
